An Insight Into Anger Management Skills

Ceri Jones | September 30, 2010

Many scientists, so-called experts, philosophers and the rest, tell us about anger and anger management skills, but do they really give you the inside story? There are people all over the world with anger issues, some mild, some extreme and some within the normal boundaries of the emotion of anger.

We hear about all the symptoms of anger, which include kicking, fighting, slapping, verbally abusing, physically abusing and mentally abusing. We find reports from around the world about the many episodes related to violence in crime. Finally, we hear many reports about how to deal with anger using anger management skills.

However, anger is an emotion that acts on impulses. Anger is a good thing, until it becomes uncontrollable. This happens when a person feels unhappy and reacts to the impulses of his or her emotions radically. However, there are some people who get angry as a direct result of putting things off.

You can see it in an example with a person that gets angry with a cable company. Let’s say that this person has been dealing for more than three months with issues involving a cable company, herself and another party. This person was paying a bill which included channels ordered by another person, but the company refused to give her a selection of channels that she had ordered in her own name.

She goes through a series of processes, and finally, after she had done as instructed, the company advised her that she would have to pay for what had already gone on. So, she would have to pay for all the channels on the bill, only some of which she had ordered. Now, she was not in a position to do much about it since she did not live at that residence. Finally, she blew her top and told the company off, walking quickly out the front door, mumbling you stupid bloody idiots.

This person was pushed to anger and this happens too many times in society these days, yet the world only sees the angry persons. We can look at other theories about anger and anger management skills, and see that the blanks are not filled in. When a person has an anger issue, he or she does not necessarily have that problem everyday. Rather, in most instances the person builds up to the point of exploding.

Often someone will go for a week, month, or even longer before they break out in anger. If this person has a mental illness, alcohol or drug problems, it contributes to the anger issues, however in many cases people does not get too angry every day.

Therefore, we can see that not only do we need to teach anger management skills to contain anger; we also must teach people to approach each problem as it occurs. Procrastination comes in many forms and it includes putting off emotional issues until they are too hot to handle. Many people that are violent because of uncontrolled anger often have a dangerous mental illness underlying the anger. Many people that are angry because of putting things off have a degree of control, and it usually does not lead to violence.

However if a person is pushed hard enough this may occur. Anger is the process of expressing emotions, however when a person is angry they may have difficulty relating to the underlying reason for the anger.

Anger Management Technique

Rhys Jones | May 20, 2010

Dealing with anger is seldom easy, since people are always facing problems and reasons for conflict. However, our anger management technique is very important. We have to deal with price hikes, arguments, war, violence, crime, everyday common stupidity and continuous interruptions. There is not one solitary, single person in this often problematic life that has not gotten mad at some time.

Anger is a feeling that we all have to cope with. But anger comes in many forms: the root of anger is hatred, anxiety or frustration as a result of previous deception or disappointment, comes from bad anger management technique. This is true. However, true or not, even in the Bible it says that when Adam and Eve were created on Earth, the first problem was when the Devil, in the form of a snake, lied, deceiving Eve. Once that lie became known, the world started suffering many problems, including violence, murder, war, shortages, disease, weather disasters and so forth.

Since that first lie, the world has become more chaotic and continues to worsen as the years roll by. We can examine how a lie can instigate anger by looking at one individual scenario. That person engaged in criminal activities, like stealing, writing bad checks, and selling prescription medications. Now that person had to embroider lying into the picture, since she felt that her behaviour and actions were only a means of survival.

So, she started lying to cover up her crimes. As the years went by, she became angry and could not cope, solely as a result of the way she was behaving, her way of thinking, the way she was conducting her life and her poor anger management technique. She began to react like anyone else suffering from uncontrolled anger would behave.

This included, putting others down, insulting others, verbally and physically assaulting, threatening, belittling and mocking others. The woman was diagnosed with a mental disorder, Post traumatic Stress Disorder and Bipolar. She also had health issues, including diabetes. Now if we look at all the aspects of that person’s anger and her anger management technique, we can see, if we search deep enough, that her lying, which caused paranoia, was the root cause of her behavioral problems.

A lot of people have a problem with their anger management technique. Many of the people with post-traumatic stress disorder react angrily because they are reacting to a flashback in memory. That is right! People with post traumatic stress disorder often repress their emotions and when they are violent or angered, it is often the result of fighting the sources that caused their trauma and not the person in their immediate vicinity.

But, we do not see this as the reason for the woman’s fury, since she did not make the problem public knowledge. Therefore, people would not think of post traumatic stress disorder as the cause, or at least skip over the possibility of it. So, now let’s examine diabetes, since this illness has an affect on the nerves. The shortage of insulin creates other problems too, but many people with diabetes will become upset for little or no reason at all.

However, most people do not act angrily, assault, insult or attack others . If we examine why crimes are committed, we see that very often, serious behavioural problems derive from having told lies. Therefore, when we look at this woman’s situation again, we can see that we have to deal with the underlying problems that is her lying and get her to move forward, avoiding episodes of frustration, anxiety and anger by using some form of anger management technique.

Now, the person is in denial, which means that until the legal system makes her take steps in anger management technique, then she probably will not get help herself. In addition, even if the criminal justice system does force her to get help, it probably will not work, since her denial has existed for probably many years. Now we are dealing with a real anger problem, since her behaviour is life long, which means extensive therapy is needed.

Anger is an emotion, but when it interferes with another persons life, it is a serious problem. This person is not hurting only one person, she is hurting everyone, since when she steals or writes bad checks, society pays with tax increases, as well as other increases. One of the biggest problems I have noticed with this type of person, is that the system and society will allow it to continue; only addressing it when the person is caught. Once the person is released then it continues again. This is a chain of events involving lack of control due to anger mis-management and bad anger management technique.

About Anger Management Articles

Owen Jones | April 19, 2010

Anger is an issue which is exhibiting great concern among many people nowadays. Maybe, that is because it is an issue which affects all generations, races, communities. In fact, anger has the potential to touch anybody without prejudice.

It is frightening for those who have to live with anger every day. Anger not only involves the person affected but also all those they come into contact with daily. Because it is such a very important social issue in society today, people are continuously striving to develop programs to help those affected by anger-related issues.

Reading anger management articles can be beneficial to someone who is affected by anger. There are different types of anger management articles, different in that they target specific groups such as teenagers, adults, men, women, couples, families and other social groups affected by anger.

These articles are meant to be informational; empowering individuals with useful knowledge regarding the problems of dealing with anger, anxiety, frustration and aggression. With guest writers and specialists in the area of anger management, these articles are packed full with interesting details and effective tools that people can take home and use to transform their feelings of anger into healthy, normal feelings.

Reading an anger management article can provide an individual with an opportunity to acquire new knowledge on anger management, which may in turn provide some relief; a chance for people struggling with daily feelings of anger, rage and frustration to find hope and encouragement. This would not only allow a victim or his friends/family to find some hope, but it would also provide them a chance to realize that others also face similar challenges. Sharing personal experiences may help people to own up to their problem and maybe discover underlying reasons for their anger and frustration.

A great part of helping an individual work through anger-related issues is support. Assuring the person that they have people to count on, people who will stick by them no matter what may happen, this is extremely relevant to people who are fighting every day to overcome problems with anger. Encouragement is also important. Encouraging the individual to attend support group meetings, talk to a counsellor or read an anger management article may make a huge difference in their treatment.

Yes, society appears to have a huge problem with violence, aggression, frustration and anger but, society is also attempting to create anger management programs to help decrease this sociological problem. Providing anger management qualified people to work in public places such as schools, corrections, mental health centres, society is proving that they are concerned. Apart from visiting counsellors, doctors and treatment clinics, people can also attend anger management courses and consult anger management articles and books

These opportunities are available to people who are serious about making positive changes in their lives, it certainly would be in their best interest to accept the chance. Reading anger management articles might be the turning point for an individual. If the article is effective in reaching just one person and making positive changes to their life and the lives of those around them, it was certainly worth writing.

Gold Rosaries

Owen Jones | April 10, 2010

Have you ever seen a golden rosary? They are not items you see every day, but they are very striking and they can be found if you look around. A rosary is a symbol of your faith, a method of doing penance and even a way of remembering who gave you your faith.

Because of the symbolic nature of a rosary, it does not matter at all what it is made from. However, if you like nice things, a golden rosary could be a luxury item for you, even though there is more chance of it being stolen.

You certainly would not want to have it stolen of course, but a valuable rosary is a beautiful object to have, like a golden business card case or an expensive fountain pen. It is not so much that it shows that you can afford one, it is more that it demonstrates that it is an important item to you. Something of significance. If you like writing, you want a good pen, if you want to give a good impression, you can have a good business card case and if you love God, you can have a lovely rosary.

However, you do not have to take it to church with you, if you are worried about being flash. You could only use it at home, if that made you feel easier. After all, you are not buying a golden rosary to show off to the world’s population, just to illustrate your commitment to yourself. The weight of a golden rosary seems to add solemnity to the proceedings, but that might be a personal thing.

However, you do not necessarily have to buy a gold rosary for yourself. You might buy one for a child or godchild in order to show how much you want that they will discover or uphold the faith.

You will have to go to a professional dealer who knows about gold rosaries. This is because if the beads are too heavy for the chain, the chain might not last long. The constant moving of the beads could either wear the gold chain thin too swiftly or just snap it.

That would be a real shame, because you might lose one or more of your beads too and the beads on a gold rosary would necessarily be quite classy too. Replacing one or more beads might be difficult or even impossible years down the line.

A gold rosary would almost certainly become a family heirloom and be passed down for generations or even hundreds of years. It would be a great inducement for a young person to consider the important things in life.

Your church could give you pointers about where to buy a gold rosary from someone that really knows what the proportions of the beads to the chain should be. They will also offer you different purities of gold, usually 9, 14 or 18 carat gold and the beads could be anything from glass to pearls.

If you do go in for a gold rosary, get the retailer to attest to the materials used in its manufacture and the various weights so that if you have a problem, you have proof to show the insurance company.

Rhys Jones | March 29, 2010

There is plenty of relevant anger management help. First and foremost it is imperative to understand anger and the consequences of anger. Anger management help will not work without knowing what it is an individual is attempting to change or manage. Anger is totally normal. It is a reaction to confrontational situations.

It is all right to be angry, but when this anger becomes intense frequently, it can cause severe problems: that is problems within the family, within other relationships, at school or work and it can also cause health problems. People who are unable to manage their anger in a positive way are liable to transpose their anger onto other situations such as child and spousal abuse, violent crimes and other types of criminal, anti-social activity. Anger management help is something an individual should consider when people recognize that they have a problem.

There are all sorts of anger-provoking situations, but there is plenty of anger management help that could be useful when working through anger-related issues. Some people become really mad or angry when they become frustrated. This can happen when something doesn’t work out the way they planned or they failed to succeed after giving the task their all – circumstances like these may cause a person to become frustrated. This frustration may lead to anger which can then spin off into a whole list of negative consequences.

Irritation, anxiety and frustration provoke anger. Every day occurrences such as constant reminders or regular interruptions can cause a person to become irritated. This irritation continues to grow and the result can be a sudden fit of fury. Depending on the individual, this rage can cause a person to resort to different ways of releasing their anger, some of which may be painful to themselves and / or others.

When an individual is being verbally abused or perhaps even sexually harassed, it is quite easy to understand that anger can be the result. People deal with these unsettling experiences differently but for those who become uncontrollably angry because of the abuse, the outcome could be very serious indeed and even violent. Anger management help is imperative in such scenarios, especially when people are feeling threatened.

When somebody is handled unreasonably, it often provokes angry emotions. Often when people are blamed for something, whether rightly or not, it can cause them to get angry and behave out of control. There is so much help out there that can be important to understanding anger management. The more information a person can gather, the better equipped they are if they are faced with circumstances involving an angry person or if they require anger management help themselves.

Anger management help is available from many sources such as books, pamphlets, doctors’ surgeries, movies and the Internet. For a person who requires anger management help, the Internet is an excellent source of information. Many websites are dedicated to providing anger management help and the Internet is very well placed for supplying the information required about anger, the consequences of anger, why people are affected by anger and anger management help.

Without the appropriate anger management help, it would be difficult to begin a course of treatment that would be beneficial. It doesn’t matter where the anger management help comes from. It does matter however, what an individual does with the assistance they are given.
