Dr Atkins Diet Products

Joy Mitchell | June 12, 2010

Following a diet is never easy, especially to begin with, and frankly just because you’re going to do the Atkins Diet, it doesn’t mean that it will get any easier either. Sure, you can eat almost unlimited quantity of high fat and high protein foods, but you’re still following a diet and you still need to control your food intake.

For a start off, you will need to limit your carb consumption especially in the initial stage of your diet, and although you are allowed to increase that bit by bit later on in the diet, you might still be missing your favourite carbs, like bread or chocolate, and can still be prone to these cravings. And that’s where some of the Atkins products can help.

Having tasted some of these Atkins products myself, I have to say that I think them to be worth the money. They’re by no means cheap but then again, nor are they so expensive that you’ll only be able to afford one item and go hungry for the rest of the time, which might, in its own way ensure that you lose weight!

However, you’ll be happy to hear that there’s a range of Atkins products for you to choose from that can help satisfy even your worst food cravings and as an added benefit, as I said before, they taste good as well. But if that isn’t enough for you, you’ll be happy to hear that they can also assuage your sweet cravings too, as well as being healthy and filling you up!

So, which Atkins products are available? Well, they cover a wide range of foodstuffs, so it really depends on what stage of the diet you’re on and what you crave. If it’s breakfast bars, there’s the ‘Morning Start Breakfast Bars’ which is high in protein and fiber and which also has the necessary amount of calcium you’ll require too. Then you’ll come across my own personal favourite, the ‘Peanut Butter Granola Bar’, made with crunchy goodness and peanut butter.

But then again, if you truly miss a foodstuff from your diet, you could always try one of the Atkins products which reproduce different flavours, say the milk shakes. For example, if you crave chocolate, you could try an Atkins Chocolate Milk Shake. Come on, let’s be honest, where would we be without our milk shakes? Probably in the same place we would be without our ‘Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars’.

Have you read enough to whet your appetite? Do you reckon that you can stick to your diet with any of these Atkins products lining your cupboards with only a modicum of groaning?

So, now you have it, what are you waiting for? Go and get your Atkins products now. There’s only so much will power a person has and the better prepared you are the easier it will be to stick to your diet and the quicker you can lose that unwanted weight.

The Atkins Grapefruit Diet.

Frank Williams | June 5, 2010

The Atkins Grapefruit diet is a diet plan, not supported by the estate of Dr. Atkins, that plays on the popularity of the grapefruit diet and the Atkins diet name. However, a closer look into this diet shows that it may not be all it claims to be.

First off, it’s pretty difficult to find information on the Atkins grapefruit diet plan. Smart people know that when someone is perpetrating a deception, or a con, they will often gloss over the facts. This is what the Atkins grapefruit diet seems to do in an attempt to get people to associate it with two supposedly effective diets.

Is the Atkins Grapefruit Diet part of the Atkins Diet or endorsed by the late Dr. Atkins’ company? The answer is a resounding no, not only is there no mention of the Atkins Grapefruit Diet on the Atkins web site, but there is no fruit of any sort allowed in the list of allowed foods in the Atkins diet Induction phase either.

The induction phase allows the following foods: fish of all kinds; all fowl such as turkey and chicken; any shellfish; any meat such as beef or pork; eggs cooked in any style including fried; cheese; vegetables; herbs and spices; fats and oils; low carbohydrate beverages including diet soft drinks.

Please, notice one thing – fruit is not on that list. Later phases of the Atkins diet do include limited amounts of fruits such as cantaloupe and even lemon juice, and the pre-maintenance and maintenance phases even specifically allow small quantities of grapefruit. But when compared to the amount of Grapefruit recommended on the Atkins Grapefruit Diet, again there is a massive disagreement.

The Atkins Grapefruit Diet suggests a cup of grapefruit juice or a cup of grapefruit sections, with 8 and 18 carbs respectively. Even the most generous phases of the Atkins diet recommends limiting intake to below 8 carbs per day, when it comes to grapefruit. That’s a direct contradiction of one plan to the other.

Most sensible people would look directly at the Atkins website the moment they heard of the Atkins Grapefruit Diet. When they found no mention of that diet on their site, a red light would go off and an alarmbell would ring.

In general, remember that any diet that relies too heavily on one type of food, such as grapefruit in a grapefruit diet, is unhealthy for any but extremely short periods. The Atkins Grapefruit Diet is not associated with the Atkins diet, and may interfere with the results of the Atkins diet, especially in its early phases.

Is The Atkins Grapefruit Diet Genuine?

Joy Mitchell | June 2, 2010

The Atkins Grapefruit diet is a diet plan, not endorsed by the firm of Dr. Atkins, that plays on the popularity of the grapefruit diet and the Atkins diet name. A closer look into this diet shows that it may not be all it claims to be.

Firstly, it’s very hard to find information on the Atkins grapefruit diet plan. Clever people realize that when anyone is carrying out a deception, or a con, they will often gloss over facts. This is exactly what the Atkins grapefruit diet seems to do: it tries to persuade people to associate it with two purportedly effective diets.

So, is the Atkins Grapefruit Diet part of the Atkins Diet or supported by the estate of the late Dr. Atkins? The answer is a resounding ‘no’, not only is there no mention of the Atkins Grapefruit Diet on the Atkins website, but there is no fruit of at all mentioned in the list of allowed foods in the Atkins diet Induction stage.

The induction stage includes the following foods:

Fish of all types. All fowl such as turkey and chicken. All shellfish. All meat such as beef or pork. Eggs cooked in all styles, including fried. Cheese. Vegetables. Herbs and Spices. Fats and Oils. Low carbohydrate beverages, including diet soft drinks.

Do you notice anything? No fruit is mentioned on that list. Later phases of the Atkins diet do include small amounts of fruits such as cantaloupe, strawberries and even lemon juice, and the pre-maintenance and maintenance phases even specifically allow small quantities of grapefruit. But when compared to the amount of Grapefruit recommended on the Atkins Grapefruit Diet, once more there is a disagreement.

The Atkins Grapefruit Diet advocates a cup of grapefruit juice or a cup of grapefruit sections, with 8 and 18 carbs respectively. Even the most generous stages of the Atkins diet advocates limiting grapefruit consumption to below 8 carbs a day. That’s a direct contradiction of one diet with the other

Most reasonable people would look at the Atkins website the moment they heard of the Atkins Grapefruit Diet. When they saw no mention of that diet on the site, a red light would go off and an alarm would sound.

In general, you should remember this: any diet that relies very heavily on one food, such as grapefruit on a grapefruit diet, is unhealthy for any but extremely short periods. The Atkins Grapefruit Diet is not associated with the Atkins diet, and may disrupt with the results of the Atkins diet in its early stages.

Cooking Low Carb

Marion Jones | April 23, 2010

Cooking is an art form and cooking can get even more creative in thought and planning when you or someone in your family starts on a diet. The challenge comes when you have to juggle the needs of your whole family with that of a low carb dieter. For this sometimes difficult problem of cooking, low carb recipes are a God send.

Due to the many low carb recipes and products on the market it is now entirely possible to make cooking low carb food an enjoyable part of your life. There are so many handy things you can use when you are cooking low carb recipes. Also the Internet has many websites that feature low carb diet changes.

Some of these variations are easy to implement like combining two different recipes to create one healthy meal that becomes a low carb recipe. There are even counters that can help you find out if your choice of food items is keeping you within the boundaries of your low carb recipe.

It is a good idea to have a list of food that you want to buy in order to prepare low carb recipes.
